Candy Shorts Player Guide: Subtitles, Languages and Speed

Candy Shorts plays in your browser, on a phone or a computer, with no app to install. The player is simple but has more options than most people notice: subtitles in seven languages, adjustable speed and fullscreen. This guide walks through every setting and the best way to watch on each device.

The short version

The Candy Shorts player carries captions in Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and English, playback between 0.5x and 2x, and a fullscreen mode. It runs in any up-to-date browser; dubbed audio is announced but not yet available, and there is no app-store app.

Where the player lives

There are two ways in. The standalone site, candyshorts.com, opens straight onto the catalog. Candy AI hosts the same series too: tap Shorts in its menu. Either route leads to the same player and the same episodes, and the Watch buttons on our pages take you directly to the series you chose.

Nothing needs installing; a browser on any computer or phone will do.

The episode list

Every series page shows its episodes in order. The opening two of a public title play straight away; the rest carry a lock until you subscribe. The list makes it easy to see how long a story is before you start, and to jump back to where you left off.

Our own title pages mirror that list, with the free episodes marked and a play button that opens the official player at the right series.

Subtitles

Subtitles are the player’s most useful feature, and they cover seven languages:

Pick the language from the player’s settings. Subtitles help in a noisy place, on a muted phone, or simply when you want to follow dialogue closely; many series turn on a single line of conversation.

Dubbed audio

Dubbed audio is announced in the player but not live yet. Until it arrives, the original audio is what you hear, and subtitles are the way to follow a series in another language.

Playback speed

You can slow playback to half or push it to twice the normal rate. Slowing down is handy for catching a detail; speeding up suits rewatching a favorite or skimming an episode you have already seen. Since free episodes run roughly a minute, most people leave speed at normal.

Fullscreen

Fullscreen works as you would expect, on desktop and on mobile. On a phone, rotating the screen and going fullscreen gives the series the most room.

Site languages

The candyshorts.com interface itself comes in six languages: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. That changes menus and buttons; the series titles and subtitles are handled separately.

Watching on a phone

The format was designed for phones. Episodes fit into a few spare minutes, and any current mobile browser handles the player. For one-tap access, Candy AI recommends pinning it as a shortcut:

iPhone: open the site in Safari, tap the Share button, then choose Add to Home Screen.
Android: open the site in your browser, open the browser menu, then choose Add to Home screen.

The pinned shortcut gets an icon like any app, and Candy AI mentions push alerts for features, deals and messages.

No app-store app, and why

Neither Apple’s nor Google’s store accepts explicit software, so no official Candy Shorts listing exists in either. The home-screen shortcut is the official alternative. Be wary of anything in an app store claiming to be Candy Shorts.

Watching on a computer

On desktop, the player behaves like any streaming site in a browser tab. A large screen and fullscreen mode suit the cinematic titles, such as The Witch Who Made Me King and Cleopatra and Caesar. We have not verified casting to a television, so we do not promise it.

Free and locked episodes in the player

On public titles the first two episodes play for anyone, without an account. When you reach a locked episode, the player offers the subscription. Spicy titles, such as Tori’s Dirty Vows, only appear to signed-in members of Candy AI and have no public preview. Plans and prices are in our Candy Shorts Premium guide.

Choosing a subtitle language

Subtitles are set per viewing session in the player. If you share a device, check the language before pressing play. For learners, watching in your own language first and then rewatching with another set of subtitles is a surprisingly effective, and entertaining, way to practise.

Watching with headphones

Many series hinge on a whispered line or a voice from the next room, usually the one character kept in the dark. Headphones make those moments land and keep the audio private, which is worth remembering on a phone in shared spaces.

Data and quality

Short episodes are light on data compared with long-form streaming, which matters on a mobile plan. The membership lists higher-quality streaming among its perks, so if picture quality matters to you, compare an opener before and after subscribing on the same connection.

Picking up where you left off

Because every series is a numbered list of short episodes, resuming is easy: open the series page and choose the next number. Our title pages show the same list with the free episodes marked, so you can check where a story stands before opening the player.

Troubleshooting

If an episode will not play, try the basics: refresh the page, check your connection, or switch browser. Candy AI’s terms say refunds are not given for technical problems on the user’s side, so it is worth confirming that the player works on your device with the free openers before subscribing. Browser tips

Keep your browser updated, since the player relies on modern video features. Private or incognito windows work but will not remember your place between sessions. If an ad blocker or privacy extension interferes with playback, allow the site or try another browser before assuming the series is broken.

The player keeps no visible watch history on our side, but your browser does. On a shared computer or tablet, a private window or a separate browser profile keeps your viewing to yourself, and the home-screen shortcut is easy to remove when you no longer want it.
